Over the last few years attention has been placed on the roles of police union contracts in criminal justice reform. In particular, their ability to shield officers from accountability. These contracts arguably make it more difficult to discipline officers despite increasing levels of public support for change. The Center for Justice Research and Campaign Zero have embarked on a project whereby we will review police union contracts for the development of a more appropriate agreement between police, their unions, and the community.
