The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act

The George Floyd Justice in Policing Act passed the U.S. House on Wednesday, and now moves to the Senate, where it faces a tougher road to becoming law. Howard Henderson, a professor at Texas Southern University, joined LX News to make a case for why a national standard for policing is needed.

"This is groundbreaking legislation should now have a more accepting senate. This bill will ban chokeholds and qualified immunity, which we know we need," CJR Director Howard Henderson NBC LX. "But more importantly, this bill will create a national database of police encounters, which is long overdue and should allow for more accountability."
