The 87th Texas Legislature passed more than 660 bills this year during what seemed like an endless number of sessions. Most of them have already gone into effect, many of them amid controversy and legal challenges.

Center for Justice Research Founding Director Dr. Howard Henderson says, "Anytime you allow people to vote, that is a great opportunity." "The reality of it is, in many larger cities around the state, they didn't actually defund the police [...] a lots of this is about media hype and misperception.
