Call for federal probe after audit finds lax oversight of HPD drug squads

Nineteen months after a disastrous raid at a southeast Houston home, Houstonians can finally see how HPD graded its own narcotics division.

A months-old audit, suddenly released last night by HPD on Twitter, found widespread errors and questionable supervision of indicted former HPD officers Gerald Goines, Steven Bryant and the narcotics squads they worked with.

The audit found that the two former officers made more errors on narcotics cases than cases they filed.
